Purpose of processing

The setting is a preliminary treatment to the finishing processes that stabilizes those types of fabric
which, subjected to the action of water, can be distorted and deformed as a result of tensions
inside the fabric itself.

DISCONTINUOUS FIXING (POTTING). Processing technology and execution

The wide fabric is wound under tension on a perforated roller (see figure A, point 1) placed in the
boiling tank (fig. A, 2) at a suitable temperature, in water added with wetting agent.
A pressure cylinder placed above the roller (fig. A, 3) presses on the rolled fabric.
A special reversible volumetric pump (internal-external and vice versa) (fig. A, 4), ensures one
uniform circulation of the bath through the holes of the rotating roller on which the fabric is wound, in cycles
automated and with a programmable duration from 30 to 60 minutes.
At the end of the cycle, the fabric is unloaded by reversing the direction of rotation of the roller and passing
above the pressure cylinder, it reaches two squeezing cylinders (fig. A, 5), then to a tray (fig.
A, 6), where cold water spray nozzles generate a violent thermal shock on the fabric.
At the end of the treatment, the piece can be folded (fig. A, 7) or rolled up.

Most recurring defects

The main defects resulting from this treatment are:
differences in treatment between the head and tail of the piece. Go over the patch in the hot bath in
tail-to-head sense;

Marbling (“moirè” effect), on the surface, usually caused by
- a local pressure of the cylinders on the fabric,
- a chain tension that is too high which deforms the wires and causes their refraction to vary;
weakening of the fabric due to unsuitable chemical action (chemical fixing).

CONTINUOUS CRABBING

Processing technology

Process that increases the productivity of the treatment and avoids differences between head and tail.

The wide fabric (see figure B, point a) passes through a tray (fig. B, 1) with hot water and
any wetting substances. It is then squeezed by a pair of cylinders (fig. B, 2), guided and laid down
on a drum (fig. B, 3) and covered by an endless cloth (fig. B, b), to rest motionless in the
reaction zone between the heated drum and the cloth.
The higher temperatures, caused by the pressure of the sheet and by the particular materials of which it is
compound, cause greater fixing and dimensional stability to the fabric.
The passage through a cold basin (fig. B, 4) generates the stabilizing hot-cold shock.
After squeezing between two cylinders (fig. B, 5), the fabric is collected on pallets or wrapped.
This machine ensures good results without the use of chemicals, guarantees very productions
high and is useful as a preparation for dyeing to avoid creasing effects.

Processing technology - Continuous fixing

A further crabbing machine is shown in figure C.
The incoming fabric is impregnated in a bisulphite-based bath, in addition to the most appropriate wetting agent;
it then passes over a large heated drum (see figure C, point 2) against which it comes
pressed by a rubber mat (fig. C, 1) which crushes the fabric and hinders the escape of the
steam, which in this process reaches temperatures above 100 ° C.
At the end, the fabric passes through a cooling tank (fig. C, 3).
Attention: the outgoing fabric must always be wound on a roll to avoid indelible stripes
from pitch.
The speed of the machine is adjusted according to the weight of the fabric.
The cooling of the cylinder, at the end of the work, must be gradual to avoid the thermal excursion
sudden deterioration of the rubber or silicone mat.
Another discontinuous chemical fixation system involves the following phases:
1. impregnation of the foulard fabric in solution of the “Angra ™” product;
2. at the exit of the foulard, rolling up of the fabric in the format of a large roll;
3. drying of the branched fabric;
4. development of the product in decatizing or in KD, thanks to the combined action of heat and steam.

Services

After the sale of the machinery we also assist you in logistics and if desired by the customer we have technicians capable of reassembling and starting the machinery.
