The fabric is placed in a box placed on a revolving platform, called a carousel, (see figure A, point
5,) controlled by a winder, which has the purpose of removing the twists (tòrte) from the piece.
Then the patch must:
stretch for about 10-12 meters and therefore pass about 6 meters from the ground by an aerial pulley
(fig. A, 1) complete with self-adjusting brake and winder;
pass between two battens (fig. A, 2) rotating in the opposite direction to the advancement of the fabric e
placed transversely with respect to the patches.

The rotation of the knockers is synchronized so that they work in opposition to each other and is
opposite to the advancement of the fabric to keep it in constant tension with the machine.
The rubbing of the fabric between two spreading cylinders (fig. A, 3) completes the stretching.
An oscillating rocker guides the fabric in a central position with respect to the machine (fig. A, 4).
The cord opener almost always works in combination with the wide squeezer.
For the knitted fabric (very elastic in both width and length), remember that:
it should not be subjected to strong tractions; then use the accompanying cylinders and devices
expanders;
the opening of the tubular is a delicate phase; for a perfect cut it must be performed on the
circular machine for the needle waste (a snag mark on the entire length of the piece obtained
removing a needle from the circular machine). Otherwise it will be necessary to follow the trend precisely
of the thread.
The main organs of a string opener (figure B) are:
a winding device (see figure B, point 1);
a fabric whisk (fig. B, 2);
the cutter (fig. B, 3) for opening the tubular;
the reel (fig. B, 4), which plies the already open pieces (wide).
