Purpose of processing
Dry grinding applies to both traditional fabrics and knitted fabrics made of cellulosic fibers
and synthetic, rarely wool. It gives the fabric a very soft appearance and feel
and smooth or the so-called peach peel effect.
Processing technology
In the grinding machine (see figure A) the fabric is rubbed against one or more rollers (fig.
A, 1) covered with emery paper of a grain suitable for the result you wish to obtain.
Contact can take place in two ways:
thick (fig. B)
in contact (fig. C).
There are machines with one or more grinding cylinders, which generally act on the right, with the
possibility of adding another cylinder for the reverse.

Execution of the work
The operator must:
manually check the resistance of the fabric regularly;
avoid the formation of creases.
Most recurring defects
Formation of creases, scores or holes caused by swollen threads, knots, etc.
Difference in appearance and color between the center of the piece and the selvage.
